HOW TO ACCESS SPECIFIC DATABASE E-RESOURCES OFF-CAMPUS
The TUT Library and Information Services has a number of licensed collection, accessible off-campus. Because your unique Internet IP address is not registered with the various vendors, it will be required for you to login and identify yourself as a registered TUT user. This page will guide you on how to access the TUT LIS specific licensed electronic resources, off-campus.
There are mainly two ways how to access specific licensed electronic resources via the Databases: A-Z List, off-campus, namely:
- Via the TUT Website
- Directly via the TUT LIS Website
Method 1 - Via the TUT Website
- Go to the TUT website: www.tut.ac.za
- On the bottom right hand side of the site, click on the Library and Information Services link
- Once on the TUT LIS website is opened, follow the instructions from Method 2, step 2
Method 2 - Via the TUT LIS Website
- Go directly to the TUT LIS Website: https://lib.tut.ac.za
- Click on the Databases: A-Z List link
- Once on the TUT LIS Databases: A-Z List, select the specific alphabetical character, resembling the name of the electronic resource to be searched.
- Once the desired alphabetical character was selected, select the desired electronic resource name.
- Note that the resource will contain a brief description. You will now have the opportunity to select off-campus access. If you are anywhere else in the world accept on-campus, click on Off-Campus.
- Once you have clicked on the Off-Campus button, you will be directed to the login page.
- To login enter your Name and Surname as username and your Student/Staff Number as password.
- Remember this credentials must be the same as what you are registered with, at the University.
- Once your credentials has been entered, click on the Submit button.
- You will now be directed to the desired database platform, after authentication.
- Please contact your library if you experience any difficulty accessing the electronic resources, off-campus.
